The layers overlap, buckle and in places open onto empty voids, forming something that recalls a geological cross-section, tree bark or the remains of an old structure. The colouring rests on a natural process of oxidation: dark rust passes into warm brown and lightens to creamy white in the hollows — the surface looks as though moisture and time had worked on it for years. In several places, dark densely woven bands appear between the layers, introducing rhythm and a contrast of texture. The whole is mounted on a slim rod and a plain rusted base, so the mass appears to hover in the air. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe sculpture is entirely handmade — every sheet shaped, bent and joined individually, with the surface finished by hand, so the arrangement of the layers, the run of the edges and the pattern of the discolouration are unique to each piece. It belongs in interiors with a strong artistic character: a loft, gallery, study, library, studio or office space.
